POSTPARTUM CARE

The postpartum journey, or "fourth trimester" as it is often
referred to, is a time of big transitions. Tending to a whole new life while simultaneously healing from pregnancy + birth and all the other aspects of everyday life, is a lot for anyone. Caring + nurturing a postpartum family is an important tradition that leads to healthier + happier families and communities.

As a Postpartum Doula I offer this care to families in a way that they can be free of guilt, shame or anyone's projected biases. I understand + trust that you know what is best for you and your family. I am there to simply help you to grow your confidence in your own wisdom, support your family's mental + physical health and make the transition a little easier for everyone.

My presence in your home is gentle + quiet. I don't need to be hosted or tended to, I simply carry out my services in a way that promotes your ability to feel at ease + "catch your breath". Each visit is tailored to your current needs and that can look the same or different each time.

“As you transition through the Passage you will not be alone.”

- Heng Ou, The First Forty Days

POSTPARTUM CARE + SUPPORT PRACTICES

These are some of the services that we have of
Compassionate Listening
Whether it's decompressing from your birth story, feeling frustrated with Grandma's outdated (but well intended) advice or feeling like you don't have anyone who truly understands, I will be there to listen without judgement. The drawing-in of postpartum can sometimes leave us feeling alone, left behind or voiceless as we pull away from the fast pace or when everyone only seems to ask after the new baby. A compassionate and understanding ear can seem simple, but that doesn't negate its importance during the postpartum journey.

* Each postpartum session begins with space for you to share and release.
Light Housekeeping
Birth is messy and so is the postpartum journey. Our feelings can go up and down, left to right, all while our bodies are leaking in many places; our home environment can also feel like it's doing that same. So, whether it's a load of dishes, a basket of laundry or a tidy-up of your comfort space, a few less tasks can help you sink into the necessary rest and healing you need (both in body and mind). So take a shower, have a sleep or binge a Neflix show while I take care of those things.
Botanicals + Comfort Items
Hand-blended and customized creations to support your recovery during the time between our visits. Depending on your needs this can include items like: a postpartum herbal sitz blend for sore bottoms, an abdominal/ womb massage oil to support uterine contraction, nerve supporting tea, an aromatherapy heat pack, padsicles, peri-rinse or more.
Newborn Education + Assistance
The early days of postpartum are not just about recovery, but they involve us having to build a relationship with a whole new person! You are learning what your newborn desires, how they communicate, how to fulfill their unfolding needs and so forth. As your experienced Doula I can help support you through many newborn care needs such as: breastfeeding, infant massage, baby-wearing, first baths, and more. I am also available to answer all your questions so that you don't have to sift through countless internet searches and the biased (but well intended) advice from friends and family.
Bodywork + Nurturing
As we recover from our unique birth experience we may also encounter new areas of tenderness. Sore necks from holding and feeding our newborn around the clock, buggy legs from sitting for prolonged times, tense jaws,

Cooking + Meal Prep
You deserve nourishing food. Not only will it benefit you body and mind, but will continue to sustain you through your new role as caregiver yourself. Nourishment does not just equate to healthy food. Sure, veggies and dip might make a great and easy snack, but it doesn't provide you with the same "food hug" that a warm and easily digestible meal would.
